Nestled on a wooded hillside in San Anselmo, this project was to design a living room in the home for busy executives to be used as a respite from the chaotic world as well as providing a room for formal entertaining. Doors were added to the room’s entrance to ensure quiet and privacy. This room now provides a place to reflect on the romance of Paris, the clients’ travels, their love of music, and their family heritage. The room opens to a terrace to bring the outdoors in on warm Marin evenings. The decor hints at Syrie Maugham design and Paris of the 1920-30’s.
The Master Bedroom was redecorated to include a window seat for reading and enjoying the morning sun while the shutters keep out the afternoon heat. The cupboard below the window seat doubles as “his” and “hers” hampers while the center drawer holds extra bedding. The silk bed treatment is pure luxury while the plaid suggests a bit of the Marin’s country charm. The painting above the bed is titled “China Camp Rock” and was commissioned by Richard Lindenberg.
